Glades County school district earns its first A When Florida’s school grades were released in June, only one district managed to leap from a C to the coveted A grade. In a remarkable turnaround, the rural Glades County School District earned its first A since Florida first released school district grades seven years ago. Getting an A requires improvement in the number of students who score highly on the FCAT and an increase in the number of students who had significant learning gains. Glades County officials see this as a potential economic boon to a small community while educators see it as confirmation that hard work and an unorthodox method of boosting student learning is working. Individual schools had earned an A before, but never the entire district. 8:21 PM, Jul. 24, 2011 Written by LILLY ROCKWELL The News Service of Florida Printed in the Fort Myers News Press To read more, go to: http://www.newspress. com/article/20110725/NEWS0104/110724024/-1/HEADER/Glades-Countyschool- district-earns-its-first-A?odyssey=nav%7Chead
